When Wear Eponymous asked me to produce this guest post on my all-time favourite trend - pastels - I definitely shouldn’t have been half as excited as I was. The Pastel trend is bigger than ever this summer and although pastels can go with pretty much anything – there are always a few must haves which are bound to set your outfit apart from others.

With the summer months finally making an appearance, clothing and accessories have to match the weather. In winter, it's usually the dark colours that look so cosy, but, in summer – it is all about the gorgeous pastels! How do we make sure our pastels are looking fabulous? Well, I’m the type of person where every day I incorporate a bit of the pastel trend into my everyday outfits. It is never too good to have too much of one colour, so I always aim for one item to be in a pastel colour, then the other pieces to be darker in colour. Included below is my idea of a perfect pastel outfit.

Wearing dark trousers or leggings can always be dressed up by wearing a gorgeous plain pastel top, however, I felt that styling a simple white top and adding a gorgeous pastel coloured accessory would do the job - especially with unpredictable weather.

If you look on any retail website, you’re bound to see plenty of pieces within the pastel trend. Playsuits are a must have this year and I think one in a pastel tone would look extremely cute in the sun! For those of you heading off abroad this summer, you’ll keep cooler by wearing such cute colours and of course – you’ll look smashing! Items such as playsuits, dresses and jumpsuits can be dressed either up or down with something white. Although a simplistic neutral – white can help to emphasize your pastel piece!

I always hear people complain that they don’t suit pastel colours, but that’s just not right! For those who don’t feel as confident to wear something so light and eye catching, there is always the option of buying some shoes in a pastel hue. They add the finishing touch to anything and everything. How utterly gorgeous, don’t you think?

I'll finish up with a few of my favourite pastel tips for dressing in 2014: The first, is to style with some black or white items. A white top with some black skinny jeans or leggings, teamed with a pink pastel coat is great as it completes even the most simplest of outfits. Accessorize with a pastel hair ribbon – it is super cute and it is great to match with pastel coloured shoes!
