As supporters of emerging brands, up-and-coming designers and unique creations, we were beyond excited to receive our very first emerging skincare range to try and, boy, was it a treat!
Ishga translates from the Gaelic word for water and the brand itself is Hebridean (located on the Isle of Lewis, Scotland). As a 100% organic range, the pressure is on to deliver on quality, performance and price and we can’t fault it. The products work on every skin type and utilise the pure Hebridean seaweed's potent antioxidant and anti-aging properties to create face and body products which promise to deliver on every level.
Initial impressions? Stunning packaging which is clean, classy, simple and effective. No twee or unnecessary graphics here and there’s enough information to help you make an informed skincare choice with ease.
The first product we got our hands on was the Invigorating Body Lotion. A tall, sleek and slim pump dispenser, we were immediately enticed by the premium look and feel. There’s clearly been a lot of thought and attention to detail here! It smells divine (you can instantly tell it’s a salon quality brand and that there are pure essential oils within), with a gorgeously subtle citrus smell and a light lotion which sinks very easily into the skin. The advice is to use this after the Hebridean Sea Salt Scrub and, guess what? We got to try that too!
Another gloriously decedent product, this Hebridean sea salt scrub is bursting with health boosting properties due to the naturally occurring trace elements within the salt which has been blended with a mix of carrier oils and aromatherapy essences. A subtler scent, this product is a joy to use and leaves a gorgeous silky feel to your skin without a hint of grease. Ideal for our winter blasted skin.
The Exfoliating Face Mask is a revelation; we’ve never tried a mask like this before! It smells fresh, looks like a pro product and the fine seaweed grains exfoliate in a way that feels beautifully gentle and in no way harsh or abrasive. As it contains the same potent mix of vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants, this is a great product for anyone requiring an effective exfoliating product which maintains a healing and nourished finish to the skin.
Finally, we got to try the Anti-Oxidant Marine Cream, quite possibly the star of the show (and that’s quite a feat!). It’s light texture sinks easily into the skin and, with 5 star reviews across the board, we think that the addition of Hebridean natural spring water could be natures little miracle as there’s something about this product that makes it feel very different from your average moisturiser. Our tester had redness in their skin and within a few days use it had clearly settled down. Result!
