Blogger Monday: Jules Clark

With the digital age, came the birth of bloggers – the new digital age media army, with fashion and beauty warriors alike helping to set and develop trends around the globe. Every Monday, Wear Eponymous sits down to interview an up and coming blogger that has shown skill, quality and excellent blogging values.

This week, we interview Jules from LippyLikes, who's healthy obsession with all things beauty and style related makes for an extremely interesting blog which most definitely stands out from the crowd.

W.E: Hey Jules! Tell us a bit about you!

Jules: My name is Jules and I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, friend and lawyer living and working in Glasgow.

W.E: What made you venture into blogging?

Jules: I have been an avid blog reader and YouTube watcher for years now but I began to realise that my favourites were those written by or for women in my age range (over 40) but that these were few and far between. I decided this was something I would love to do and so LippyLikes was born.

Since I began though I have found that my content is very similar to that written by all the other bloggers out there regardless of age although I do perhaps bring the perspective of someone with more mature skin and the particular concerns that presents. I also bring decades of experience of style and beauty and love to share that with my readers which I do on an almost daily basis.

W.E: What is your emergency hot weather outfit/hairstyle/beauty regime?

Jules: I have very long hair which my readers know I work hard to keep in good condition so as soon as the hot weather arrives my hair goes up and stays up. I love my sunglasses and my favourite look is strong brows, big sun specs and a bold lip- I recently reviewed Flat out Fabulous by Mac which is perfect.

W.E: What has been your proudest blogging achievement to date?

Jules: When I reached 1000 followers within 5 months of starting out. Three months later I am not too far away from 2000 which is soooo exciting. It is crazy that so many people enjoy reading what I have to say.

W.E: How do you define beauty?

Jules: What a philosophical question and one which none has been able to answer since the ancient Greeks. I do not think beauty is universal but would agree that it is in the eye of the beholder. For me beauty can be just about anything that makes me feel positive emotion - a piece of art, music or poetry.

In terms of appearance though - in my eyes, beauty is strong shapes and colours. It is well groomed. It is confident.

W.E: Your all time favourite wardrobe ensemble?

Jules: I like to wear quite timeless pieces. Body con midi dresses are a favourite. I am not afraid of colour and although I do like black, if I wear a black dress I will always try to inject a pop of colour with shoes or jewellery.

W.E: Name a wardrobe item you'd be lost without.

Jules: I could not survive without skinny jeans. I wear them throughout the week, dressed up or down, with strappy tops and heels or with graphic tees and boots. God bless Mr Strauss.

W.E: Finally, what is your favourite Wear Eponymous piece this season?

Jules: My favourite Wear Eponymous piece is the Contrast Colour Dress in black. I love the current trends for peter pan collars and monochrome and this dress really nails both. I would give it some sexy with very high heels and hair up though it would also look great with a ponytail and flats. That for me is the mark of a great design - when a piece of clothing can look great worn in a variety of different ways.
