Maeve from Thrift O’Clock

Our blogging pal, Maeve from Thrift O’Clock, is really rather keen on the 70’s resurgence of late, and we have to say we agree.  Read her five steps to adding a little 70’s injection into your current wardrobe and lets show the doubters that the decade of Big Biba and the DVF wrap dress is back in style!

When I first heard about the whole 70s revival, I wasn't overly excited. In fact I completely overlooked it, thinking it was just all crazy patterns and cuts. However when I actually looked into the decade in detail, I found that there are so many aspects we can pinch and apply to our wardrobes today!

Here are five ways you can get that 70s trend into your wardrobe:

Fashion in the 70s was full of movement & texture and one way of getting that is with fringing. Think a gorgeous jacket or handbag with fringe detailing - not only stylish but fun too!

If you just want to give a subtle nod to the decade without going full on Ziggy Stardust, accessories are the way to go. Floppy hats & oversized round sunglasses are easy to find and look great paired together.

Another simple way to step back in time is with a waistcoat or gilet. Faux fur or otherwise, they can really bring something new to an outfit and change it up completely!

Every decade had it's signature prints and let's face it, those from the 70s aren't exactly the most subtle! If you don't want to go all out you can team prints with basics to tone them down. If you're daring enough, why not have fun with a bit of paisley or tie dye?

Last but not least, the most iconic shoe of the 70s - the platform! They've evolved quite a bit since then and now you can find the style in most high street stops.
